A group of zebras is adept at hiding from apex predators. They frequently form "zebra patterns" when they congregate in large concentrations. It is challenging to identify individual zebras in the herd because they are grouped together so closely that the optical illusion produced by their alternating stripes is confusing. This gives them more defense against any threats and aids in confusing predators.
